Events
With event photography, either for an event sponsor or for participants everyone needs the pictures as soon as possible afterwards. In the past this meant a huge amount of work for the photographer post event.
or press requirements in the past Tim would have shot the event trying to shoot duplicates in the camera, processed the film and then made up several packages to be shipped overnight to the newspapers and magazines. This would be a couple of days at best. Then cam digital techniques and it was possible to email the pictures out, but often only a small selection could be emailed and Tim would spend hours preparing and sending out the emails as many of the shots would have to be sent individually due to email box size restraints.

After the logins are created for the press who need images from the event, all the pictures are uploaded from the press room of the event and are available the second they have had the thumbnails and preview generated. A much larger selection of press has access to the pictures, the whole event shoot can be uploaded (not just a small selection chosen as is necessary for email) and downloading can be through a cart to stop similar publications using the same shots.
The same is true for an corporate event or a wedding where everyone present would like to see and may want to order shots. Instead of sending selections to every individual, the shots are uploaded and everyone is given access to the images, with a password if required, to all the shots as soon as they are uploaded where they can see and order prints online. This means Tim neither has to worry about finding the names and addresses of everyone present or spend hours selecting and sending out examples of the shots to all guest present. The even t organizer simply says the images are available online for viewing and ordering prints as soon as the event is over.
