Page 1 of 4 Camera Bodies Canon EOS 1D Mark II The main work horse, especially for sports action with 8 frames a second. Great image quality suitable for all publications. All that is missed is the 1:1 lens ration for extreme wide angle shots. Canon EOS 1DS Mark II With larger image files it feels slow at only 3 fps and gets slower when shooting burst of RAW. This is the body that is used for wide angle shots mainly. Lenses Canon EF 16-35 mm 2.8L wide angle This lenses has had a lot of use of late so much so it hasn''t be worth lugging the other lenses around as art directors have been requesting close up low angle view shots to bring the subject or product closer yet still show the surroundings... Canon EF 28-70mm 2.8L zoom probably the most used lens in the bag. Canon EF 70-200mm 2.8L zoom The favorite, always sharp and perfectly balanced in the hand. Used for sports action on the 1D. Canon EF 100-400mm 5.6Lzoom This lens doesn't seem to be liked by all photographers, but has been sharp and extremely versatile for sports action photography producing some great shots for a relatively compact piece of glass. A little awkward to use, but gets the shot when one gets used to it. Canon Powershot S80 pocket digicam The new toy in the toy box. Well it would be except that it is bust with the infamous E18 error. Bought on a whim when buying another pocket camera (Panasonic Digital Luminix FX9) for the office for location snapshots, model reference head shots and a few candid shots, the S80 seemed like a good idea as a pocket camera for travel and grabbing quick shots that would be missed getting the big SLR out the bag. The S70 had been rated as a great travel camera taking great quality images, so at *M pixel the S80 seemed to be good choice. However, little research ad been done prior to the purchase whilst on a trip back to the UK, and if it had the E18 error problems reported on the internet would have been enough to swayed the choice towards another camera. After less than 2Gb of images and only a few the camera lens jammed out and the E18 error appeared on the screen. It was sent to a Canon repair center who have said the lens was broken and cannot be repaired under guarantee and it is 230 Euros to replace the lens! Hopefully though Canon will see sense and the S80 will be back in the camera bag (or pocket) and taking some great spontaneous shots.
