Based from the English Lake District and in Chamonix France, Tims photography grew rapidly from shooting ski photography in the winter to shooting summer images on the beach in the summer. Photography was more of a business decision than a passion to take photographs. He had spent 2 gap years in the French Alps climbing and skiing, then started a degree in business at Leeds where he quickly realized he was bored. Looking at travel and ski publications he thought the standard of photography didn't show what it was really like to be skiing in the mountains, and that really anyone could do better. Before buying camera equipment he called around the various magazines, travel companies and equipment suppliers and asked if they were shown inspirational photography for the next season would they be interested in buying. They all agreed the standard of photography they had was not what it could be and said if they had better they would use it. Tim then 20, went and bought a very simple camera and zoom lens (Nikon F301 and Tokina 28 - 200mm) and headed back to the Alps in 1985. Getting some Swedish skier friends to model, he sold shots from the first roll of film that he put through the camera.

His twenty years of photography includes specialist sports action, sportswear fashion and studio product shots. Direct stock image sales have always been an important addition to commissioned advertising and catalogue shoots and Tim developed stock sales further through the major stock agencies. Tim is still shooting regularly for Snow and Rock who were his first catalogue client 20 years ago.

He has also produced film and video, notably a 35 minute documentary on off piste skiing for German Sports Channel DSF.
